Dave, great to have the blog back. As a regular visitor from Ireland, the blog and website serve well to whet the appetite for another trip to Telluride. Keep up the posts and photographs! Roll on the new season!

Hi Mike, Interesting ideas, thanks for passing them along. Certainly, we'd find a way to do it if we believed people would come. I think most ski areas close with lots of snow because people start taking up summertime sports like golfing, tennis, biking, etc. It's always been a stumper in the ski industry, particularly if you're not near a metropolitan drive market. - Dave

Dave,
The overlook where the couple are standing is accessed from "Social Tunnel" on the Tomboy Road. That is one of the many georgeous stops made by Telluride's Scenic 4X4 outfitters.

I get it. Once the flights stop, the profit stops. However, the locals hate to miss out on good spring skiing--especially when you finally get good snow at the end of the season. Hell, I flew out to Denver a few weeks ago and had a foot of dry pow at A-basin. Epic.
Its a shame to see our beloved T-Ride covered from head to base this late.
Here's my plan that would be offered when weather conditions permit:
1st Open a limited mountain 2nd season ticket option with a walk up ticket at half price. Cut the mountain in half similar to early season. It has to make money-or no deal.
2nd Add a limited flight schedule to extend the season two weeks and offer telluride properties at half price.
3rd Dream big. Create an amateur competition with the winner getting a tryout for the USA Ski Team, a spot on Survivor, or something to attract attention and buzz.
Hey, why not?

I didn't take that particular picture. It looks like the couple hiked up Imogene Pass, and maybe bouldered up a ways to get to that point where they overlook the Town of Telluride.
